Common questions

How do I restore my subscription?

In PartFolk, open Settings › Subscription › Restore purchases, or tap Restore purchases on the subscription screen. Make sure your iPhone is signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account you subscribed with.

Restoring unlocks PartFolk Pro. It doesn't bring back a journal; for that, see moving to a new iPhone.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed by Apple, so they're cancelled with Apple, not in your PartFolk account. On your iPhone, open Settings › your name › Subscriptions › PartFolk › Cancel Subscription. You can also get there from PartFolk › Settings › Subscription › Manage subscription.

Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date to avoid the next charge. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting the app or your PartFolk account doesn't cancel a subscription.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We aren't able to issue App Store refunds ourselves.

How do I delete my account?

In PartFolk, go to Settings › Your data › Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and everything in your journal, on your iPhone and in your iCloud. If you connected Sign in with Apple, you'll be asked to confirm with Apple so PartFolk's access to your Apple Account is revoked too.

If you'd like a copy, download your journal first; deleted journals can't be brought back. Deleting your account doesn't cancel an Apple subscription, so cancel it in your iPhone's Settings as well. Our privacy policy explains what happens to backups.

How do I move my journal to a new iPhone?

Your journal travels with your iCloud. Make sure iCloud is on for PartFolk (iPhone Settings › your name › iCloud), then sign in to the same Apple Account on your new iPhone and install PartFolk. To bring your PartFolk account along too, connect Sign in with Apple first: on your current iPhone, open PartFolk › Settings and, under Account, choose Sign in with Apple, then use it on the new iPhone.

I never connected Sign in with Apple. Can you recover my journal?

We never have a copy of your journal, so we can't recover it ourselves. If iCloud was on for PartFolk, your journal is in your iCloud: sign in to the same Apple Account on your new iPhone. If iCloud was off, the journal lived only on that iPhone, and it's gone if the phone is lost, reset or replaced. That's why it's worth keeping iCloud on, and connecting Sign in with Apple early (Settings › Account) so we can recognize your account on a new phone.

How do I download a copy of my journal?

In PartFolk, go to Settings › Your data. Choose Journal as PDF for something easy to read or print, or All data as JSON for everything in a format other apps can read. This works with or without a subscription.

Can I use PartFolk without AI?

Yes. PartFolk asks before using AI for the first time, and you can turn it off any time in Settings › Privacy. Your journal works fully without it. If something you write sounds like you might be in danger, PartFolk still offers crisis resources, using a simple check on your iPhone. You can also choose who writes for you, Apple or Claude, in Settings › Privacy › AI help. Our privacy policy names the AI providers and what they receive.

Is PartFolk therapy?

No. PartFolk is a journal for everyday self-reflection, inspired by the Internal Family Systems model. It doesn't diagnose or treat anything and isn't a substitute for a licensed professional. If you're working with painful memories or trauma, please do that with a trained therapist.

PartFolk is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the IFS Institute.
